1) Join the community! Go to its profile page, which is gonna be a) linked from the main community page, and also b) is just the url with /profile at the end. For example, http://les-miserables.dreamwidth.org/profile (just as a hypothetical, of course). Look for "Join community" in the upper right-hand corner of the profile, and click it. That'll take you to a confirmation page, so confirm it by clicking "Join community." If you also want to see the community's posts on your reading page -- the dash equivalent -- make sure the "Subscribe to this community" option is clicked. (You can subscribe without joining, and join without subscribing, or do both.)
Okay! You have now joined! Some communities require the moderator to approve the request, but they'll say if so, and this TOTALLY HYPOTHETICAL example does not require any moderator approval.
2) Post! It depends a little on how you have your journal's style set up, but you should see a "Post entry" link at the top of any given page, or maybe "Create"-->"Post entry" or something. Or you can just go to http://www.dreamwidth.org/update. Up at the top, it'll say "Post to:" and then a drop-down box. If you haven't joined any communities, there's only one option in your drop-down box, and that's your normal journal. If you have posting access to any communities, they'll show up in the drop-down too. Pick the one you want, and away you go.
...this is all new and weird and I expect to hate it like sugar ants for at least three months, but hey, it took me two years to get used to Tumblr, I ACCEPT MY TECHNODOLTISH FATE.

Date: 2014-03-28 07:15 am (UTC)I mean, the tone of the comm was mostly "resounding silence, occasionally punctuated by someone cross-posting fic," so. THANK YOU.
(I will reply and then flee to bed. In other news, I am predictable.)
